Daniel 10:1-14 gives us a powerful story of how prayer and fasting can break through spiritual resistance. From the first day Daniel set his heart to understand and humbled himself before God, his words were heard, and an angel was dispatched with his answer. The passage says, "From the first day you began to pray, I was sent with your answer." If your answer is slow in coming, it is not because God is seeing whether you will go the 21 days of prayer and fasting, and then He'll release the answer. Daniel's answer was released the first day, even in the old covenant, but a demon blocked the angel who had the answer. But Daniel continued to pray... what would have happened if on day 18 he cut out? Day 14? Day 11? Or even day 20? There are things that have to be fought out in the spirit realm. Remember this: From the moment you begin to pray, God hears you and sends the answer. One man's 21 days of prayer and fasting broke the stronghold of the devil over an entire nation. Not a group of men, not a team of intercessors, just one man. How much more can your prayers accomplish when you combine them with fasting? Jesus prayed often, and He fasted and prayed. If Jesus, the Son of God, found it necessary to fast and pray, how much more should you and I fast and pray? The Bible says that a servant is not greater than his master, and a student is not greater than his teacher. If Jesus needed fasting and prayer to accomplish His mission, we certainly do as well. Fasting and prayer break demonic cycles and strongholds. They cannot withstand the power of a person committed to fasting and prayer for 21 days. Whatever challenges you face, fasting and prayer are spiritual tools that will bring about breakthrough and victory. |
