I've got a confession to make. And as a pro-life American, it may surprise you.
When I wrote my first book, Achieving an Abortion Free America, I never really foresaw a future free of abortions. Human nature, after all, is not something we can escape in this life.
However, that book projected a vision …
… an America with a robust culture of life, where support and resources for a mother considering abortion are so overwhelming that abortion is rarely (if ever) a chosen option.
It was then I decided - when I knew - the best path forward for the cause and culture of life was creating an organization that could fully realize that vision.
So in 1993, I founded the National Institute of Family and Life Advocates (NIFLA).
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, NIFLA is committed to empowering pro-life pregnancy centers in communities across the nation by providing vital training, education, and legal counsel.
In fact, we serve more pro-life centers in the United States than any other organization - and we continue to grow year after year! It's for this reason I'm reaching out to you today.

… and NIFLA is the organization driving this movement and making that vision a reality! Protecting Member Centers Protects the Unborn By the way, my name is Thomas Glessner. As a United States Supreme Court Bar attorney, I've spent most of my adult life advocating for the unborn in and out of the courtroom.
And one of the biggest and most unique benefits NIFLA offers its members is a legal team committed to defending pro-life pregnancy centers from all manner of attacks. In fact, you may already be familiar with our 2018 U.S. Supreme Court case, NIFLA v. Becerra.
That decision was not only a major victory for pro-life pregnancy centers nationwide but a powerful defense of ALL Americans' free speech rights! | | | In short, NIFLA sued the government of California following the state's passage of the FACT Act – a law that overtly violated pregnancy centers' First Amendment rights, threatening to fine and potentially shutdown any center that refused to provide referrals for abortion services.
Outrageous, right? What's more, the law was clearly written in such a way as to only target or be applicable to pregnancy centers and medical clinics who believe in the sanctity of life and who would never refer for abortions!
Ultimately, the overwhelming attempt to pass and defend this horrible law revealed just how successful NIFLA member centers have become over the years in furthering the cause and culture of life. A Thorn in the Side of the Abortion Industry NIFLA and its member centers have become a thorn in the side of the abortion industry …
… because NIFLA centers help and encourage women to choose LIFE for their child and offer support for them, which has led to the increased desperation of the abortion lobby.
After all, an abortion-free America is a terrifying prospect for the abortion industry!
This landmark legal decision is a perfect example to showcase just how big of an impact NIFLA can make – not only defending centers in a single state from their anti-life government but all pro-life pregnancy centers across the nation who continue to face similar threats.
It's incredible having this victory under our belt. But truth be told, we cannot do this alone – plus who knows when and where the next anti-life law will attempt to shut down NIFLA centers …

Of course, California was not the only state threatening pro-life pregnancy centers.
Similar laws also surfaced in states like Hawaii, Illinois, New York, and Connecticut around the same time as NIFLA v. Becerra or soon after, suggesting a coordinated attack against the unborn.
However, thanks to the outcome of NIFLA v. Becerra – and NIFLA's ongoing work to equip and defend centers nationwide – many of these other laws have since been prevented from taking effect…for now.

NIFLA must be ready to defend these centers at a moment's notice – especially with cases like those in Illinois and New York still active within the court system. At any point, these cases (or new ones!) could begin to move and will threaten centers striving to help women choose life. An Abortion-Free America in Our Lifetime A "Post-Roe America" is coming sooner than I ever expected.
If you had asked me 30 years ago if I thought it was not only possible for Roe v. Wade to be overturned but for America to be abortion-free, I'd have thought you were crazy.
But with a very strong challenge against Roe v. Wade currently making its way through the courts via Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Center, it's never been so important for NIFLA and its pro-life pregnancy centers to stand ready as the backbone of a rising culture of life nationwide.
NIFLA and its member centers reach so many communities, touch so many hearts, and save so many lives.
I know that with your continued help, we can do so much more – and with the potential for Roe v. Wade to even be overturned, you ought to know just how vital NIFLA will be in the coming years as we enter a Post-Roe America.
The Dobbs case is significant because the state of Mississippi – which is defending a new law prohibiting abortion after 15 weeks into a pregnancy – has not only asked that the Court uphold the law but deliver the death blow to Roe v. Wade as well.
Many legal commentators, including myself, believe the Court will uphold the Mississippi law and possibly even reverse Roe. But even if Roe is not reversed and the law is simply upheld …
… our movement can still consider this case a major pro-life win because it will allow states to restrict pre-viability abortions and even completely ban abortion!
Such a decision will cut the heart out of Roe and render it a toothless tiger despite technically remaining on the books. So either way – you and I are winning the culture war for Life!
An abortion-free America will be clearly around the corner when Roe is discarded. But that is when NIFLA's real battle begins. It's up to you and me to work diligently to supply training and resources to our network of more than 1,600 pro-life pregnancy centers across the nation.
