| DHS Announces Nationwide and International Ad Campaign Warning Illegal Aliens to Self-Deport and Stay Out | “Under President Trump, America’s borders are closed to lawbreakers.” - Secretary Noem WASHINGTON - Today, Secretary Kristi Noem announced a nationwide and international multimillion-dollar ad campaign warning illegal aliens to leave our country now or face deportation with the inability to return to the United States. The international ads warn criminal illegal aliens not to come to America and break its laws or they will be hunted down and deported. This series of ads will run on radio, broadcast, and digital, in multiple countries and regions in various dialects. Ads will be hyper-targeted, including through social media, text message and digital to reach illegal immigrants in the interior of the United States, as well as internationally. “Thank you, President Donald J. Trump, for securing our border and putting America first. President Trump has a clear message: if you are here illegally, we will find you and deport you. You will never return. But if you leave now, you may have an opportunity to return and enjoy our freedom and live the American Dream,” said Secretary Kristi Noem. “If you are a criminal alien considering entering America illegally: Don’t even think about it. If you come here and break our laws, we will hunt you down. Criminals are not welcome in the United States.” Watch domestic ad here and international ad here. | # # # | | | | A Snapshot of Trump's First Month: Making America Safe Again | 02/20/2025 | U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY

| Secretary Noem Rescinds Previous Administration's Extension of Haiti’s Temporary Protected Status | “President Trump and I are returning TPS to its original status: temporary.” - Secretary Noem WASHINGTON – Today, Secretary Noem vacated a decision by the previous administration to extend Haiti’s Temporary Protect Status (TPS) by 18 months. As part of this move, Haiti’s TPS will end on August 3, 2025, unless extended. This is part of President Trump’s promise to rescind policies that were magnets for illegal immigration and inconsistent with the law. TPS is a type of immigration status available to nationals of certain designated countries that allows aliens, even if they entered the country illegally, the ability to reside temporarily in the U.S. The Secretary of Homeland Security is authorized to designate a foreign country for TPS if there is an ongoing armed conflict, an environmental disaster, or extraordinary and temporary conditions. For decades the TPS system has been exploited and abused. For example, Haiti has been designated for TPS since 2010. The data shows each extension of the country's TPS designation allowed more Haitian nationals, even those who entered the U.S. illegally, to qualify for legal protected status. In May of 2011, DHS estimated that 57,000 Haitians were eligible to register for TPS. In August 2021, DHS estimated that 155,000 Haitians were eligible under the new designation. And by July 2024, the estimate skyrocketed to 520,694. A statement from a DHS spokeswoman: “Biden and Mayorkas attempted to tie the hands of the Trump administration by extending Haiti's Temporary Protected Status by 18 months—far longer than justified or necessary. “We are returning integrity to the TPS system, which has been abused and exploited by illegal aliens for decades. President Trump and Secretary Noem are returning TPS to its original status: temporary.” Last month, Secretary Noem similarly rescinded the previous administration’s Venezuela TPS extension. | # # # | | | | Single Day Border Apprehensions Hit 15-Year Low Under President Trump | 02/24/2025 | U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY

| Secretary Noem Announces Agency Will Enforce Laws That Penalize Aliens in the Country | DHS Will Use Every Available Tool to Compel Illegal Aliens to Self- Deport | WASHINGTON – Today, Secretary Kristi Noem announced the Department of Homeland Security will fully enforce the Immigration and Nationality Act, which created multiple tools to track illegal aliens and compel them to leave the country voluntarily. These tools include criminal penalties for certain aliens who: - Willfully fail to depart the United States.
- Fail to register with the federal government and be fingerprinted.
- Fail to apprise the federal government of changes to their address.
An alien's failure to depart the U.S. is a crime that could result in significant financial penalty. An alien's failure to register is a crime that could result in a fine, imprisonment, or both. For decades, this law has been ignored—not anymore. Compelling mass self-deportation is a safer path for aliens and law enforcement, and saves U.S. taxpayer dollars, in addition to conserving valuable Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) resources needed to keep Americans safe. Statement Attributable to a DHS Spokesperson: “President Trump and Secretary Noem have a clear message for those in our country illegally: leave now. If you leave now, you may have the opportunity to return and enjoy our freedom and live the American dream. “The Trump administration will enforce all our immigration laws—we will not pick and choose which laws we will enforce. We must know who is in our country for the safety and security of our homeland and all Americans.” Aliens can register here. This announcement comes on the heels of a nationwide and international ad campaign warning illegal aliens to self-deport and stay out. # # # | | | | Under President Trump ICE Arrests Have Increased by 627% | 02/26/2025 | U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY

For vulnerable youth, it is important to recognize that this time can be volatile and put them at risk for exploitation, regardless of their background, family circumstances, or living situation. Individuals looking to exploit others will use emotional, mental, and financial support to gain trust and build dependency in potential victims. Healthy relationships shouldn't make you feel like you're trapped or forced to do things against your will. So whether you're a teen or an adult, there are ways you can help protect yourself and others from becoming a victim of trafficking. CCHT Observes Teen Dating Violence Month This month, the Center for Countering Human Trafficking (CCHT) observed Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month, designated by Congress in 2010 to address teen dating violence and reduce self-destructive behaviors. If you work closely with or care for teens, you can play a major role in preventing them from becoming victims of sex trafficking or forced labor: - The Blue Campaign offers multiple e-training opportunities to learn how to talk about this sensitive topic and share the indicators of trafficking and other exploitative relationships.
- The Blue Campaign also partners with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) to offer a host of resources and support services to help combat youth human trafficking, including a cyber tip-line and ways you can remove photos (explicit and otherwise) online.
RECAP: Blue Campaign Anti-Human Trafficking Resource and Learning Expo Earlier this month, the Blue Campaign hosted an inaugural two-day public expo dedicated to raising awareness and providing accurate information about human trafficking. The event, which took place in New Orleans prior to the Super Bowl, educated professionals in the field and the public on relevant laws, misinformation, prevention, and support systems. Local service providers, the Louisiana Governor's Office and the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office all exhibited in a unified approach to network and connect with their community members. Other activities included interactive games and a community art project. Keep an eye out for updates about additional expo events later this year! | How Occupational Health Professionals Can Support Victims of Human Trafficking CCHT contributed an article to the "Journal of the Association of Occupational Health Professionals," Volume 44; Edition 4. The healthcare industry is uniquely positioned to play a crucial role in the prevention of sex trafficking and forced labor due to its frequent contact with potential victims. Healthcare professionals often encounter trafficked individuals, sometimes being the only people outside of the trafficking environment to interact with them. The article addresses the myths and misconceptions of sex trafficking and forced labor and stresses that every year, millions of men, women, and children are trafficked worldwide – including right here in the United States. It can happen in any community, and victims can be any age, race, gender, or nationality. Traffickers might use the following methods to lure victims into trafficking situations: - Violence
- Manipulation
- False promises of well-paying jobs
- Romantic relationships
Tampa Man Convicted of Sex Trafficking 2 Minors, Production of Child Sex Abuse Material A federal jury has found a Florida man guilty of two counts of sex trafficking a minor and one count of production of child sex abuse material following a Homeland Security Investigations Tampa investigation. Dontae Dajuan Burton, 40, of Tampa, faces a minimum sentence of 15 years, up to life, in federal prison if convicted. A sentencing date has not yet been set. Burton was indicted on Nov. 12, 2024. According to the evidence presented at trial, Burton arranged commercial sexual activity for two minors, ages 16 and 17, by creating and posting ads for them on adult escort websites. Burton handled all communications with clients, scheduled dates, determined the amount of money to be paid for the sex acts, and transported the victims to and from the dates. Burton managed the money and kept approximately half of what the clients had paid for the sex acts. This case was investigated by HSI Tampa and the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
