Bold. Biblical. Refreshingly Practical. Thursday, March 27, 2025 12:00 AM  Listen to today's Radio Broadcast The Benefits of God's Rule Our Father who is in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. –Matthew 6:9–10 Have you noticed that we tend to treat the unpleasant things in life as optional, yet somehow we find a way to do the things we really want to do? We may be too busy to watch our spending, but we will make time to watch the next episode of our favorite TV show. That's true in our spiritual lives as well. Some people fail to experience spiritual transformation because they don't think it's desirable. They don't really want the kind of supernatural life Jesus lived. How did Jesus live? He allowed God to have the final say in every part of His life. That's what it means to have the kingdom of God living within you. A kingdom is the area in which the king rules, where what he wants to be done gets done. In the same way, God's kingdom is the area in which His will is accomplished. We tend to think of God's kingdom as a future event. But you and I can experience God's kingdom right now in our hearts–that is, God can have the final say over our thoughts, attitudes, and actions. In Matthew 13:44, Jesus said, "The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in the field, which a man found and hid again; and from joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field." In other words, allowing God to rule in our hearts is a valuable treasure we ought to strive for. So why don't we make every effort to allow God to have the final say in our lives? Because Satan has convinced us that God's rule is not desirable but destructive: God's rule over our sexual lives will result in frustration. God's rule over our vocation will result in living in a hut in a foreign country. God's rule over our dreams will result in disappointment. God's rule over our desire for significance will result in obscurity. God's rule over our finances will result in poverty. God's rule over our relationships will result in loneliness. Don't believe those lies for a moment. Satan "is a liar and the father of lies" (John 8:44). Instead, consider the incredible benefits of living the way Jesus lived: Freedom from worry. Contentment with your finances. Harmony in your relationships. Inner peace in spite of your circumstances. The assurance that God has approved your life.
