Explanation: In the Sermon on the Mount, Christ first enumerated the eight progressive steps by which we can reach the higher altitudes of spiritual life; see 377. He next expounded the fundamental truths of the kingdom of God. The drawing illustrates Jesus’ matchless teachings under the figure of the Temple of Truth and the steps leading up to it. The pillars represent the order in which He presented His great doctrinal principles.
