You can not only listen to the lecture, but interact with
the teacher and the other students. The skill level of everyone there is super
advanced, and in order to share your thoughts on a topic, be prepared to get
the occasional contradiction or question from fellow students or the teacher.
We had a first time visitor come this Tuesday evening who became a Christian as
a part of the evening excitement. If you come be sure and look for me there and
tell me about yourself and how you found out about the class. I am one of two
guys there whose name is "Rick."
Immature Christians want the “easy side” of God’s love which asks little of them and doesn’t test their faith. But James shows that it is the adversities of life which prove our faith. And it is our response to the enticements of the enemies of the soul which reveal the true foundation and integrity of our love for God.
In chapter 1, James teaches that we can joyfully grow in the midst of trials and temptations if we understand the purpose, provisions, and potential of trials (James 1:1–12); refuse to fall prey to temptations (James 1:13–18); and listen and do the word of God (James 1:19–27).[1]
