Dear Friends,
This week I had the privilege of visiting with FamilyLife in Little Rock, AR. They are an amazing ministry and hosted me last spring on the radio program to promote The Pilgrim's Progress. This week's meeting centered around our new iBIBLE project.
One of their ministry leaders posed some interesting questions. He asked me, "Who is iBIBLE for? For American youth or for the mission field? Which group are you most passionate about?"
I loved his questions as they gave me the opportunity to share a unique aspect of the iBIBLE.
When I started production on the iBIBLE, I had a vision to reach the unreached, to distribute it on the mission field. But as we spoke with more and more American families, they stated a need to reach their own children and grandchildren who were reading less and watching their phones more.
I struggled with which group we were targeting first and foremost. However, a missionary from Pakistan taught me an amazing lesson. He said, "Brother Steve, while your animation may be targeted for youth in America, people of all ages will love them in Pakistan!" I asked other missionaries if this was the case, and they all wholeheartedly agreed.
Too often Christian media in America is produced for adults and very "Americanized" to sell to their target audience. Commercially, that makes complete sense. However, it was then I realized that making Biblical and visual content targeted to American youth could also reach youth AND adults on the mission field. The content easily translates, and we could reach both groups with the same animations! I no longer had to pick which group to target.
