Dear Friends, A Christian businessman was recently sharing with me his vision for using his wealth for maximum kingdom impact. There are many financial planners who might show him how to put his money in a trust, earn interest, and pay out dividends for decades beyond his natural life. There are others who might encourage him to give it all away now and trust God for the future. Both words of advice may result in tremendous blessings. However, God was leading him in another direction, and I was so encouraged by his decision. He set a 10-year goal to impact every person in a single region of the world. He researched the need, counted the cost, bent his knees in prayer, and set forth in giving his wealth and inviting others to join him. His project has a beginning and an end. It will take lots of hard work, faith and laser focus, for a solid 10 years. And as accomplished, it will have met a goal of impacting thousands of lives. When I asked him where he got the idea to do a 10-year project, he said he was motivated by one of his friends who did exactly the same thing, except his friend was in his ninth year, and his goal nearly complete. It was the most impactful decade of his life. I realized how powerful setting a 10-year goal for kingdom impact can be. I thought of it as a "10-year project of significance." It can be difficult to accomplish a significant project in a year or two. And it can be equally difficult to look 20 or more years into the future. However, 10 years is a timeframe we can wrap our heads around, and it is a long enough time to accomplish something really meaningful.
