The Scoundrels of Scripture: A 6-Day Video Devotional
The story of Scripture includes all kinds of characters: ones we find ourselves wanting to emulate and others with traits we hope never to mirror. But, just like we are all multifaceted, so are the people whose stories are recorded in the Bible—and we have much to learn from them. Over the course of six days, learn from the stories of a handful of the Bible's scoundrels and see more clearly the ways in which they reveal the generous grace of Jesus toward sinners through video devotionals with Nancy Guthrie, author of Saints and Scoundrels in the Story of Jesus.

In this interview, Nancy Guthrie, author of Saints and Scoundrels in the Story of Jesus, discusses some of the less well-loved characters of Scripture like tax collectors, scribes, Pharisees, and even Judas Iscariot, Jesus's betrayer. She also highlights what we can learn from Jesus's scandalous family tree, and why it's good news for sinners like us.

God's word paints a picture of a future when death will be swallowed up in Christ's victory on the cross, and where believers will live eternally with him. Lord, hasten the day!

When sickness enters our lives, we become keenly aware that our world is fallen. Our bodies are a gift from God, but as they age and get sick, they cause a lot of groaning. While sickness, like death, is a product of the fall and therefore not a good thing in itself, it has the good by-product of helping us to feel less at home in the world.

Because contentment works from the inside out, it is shielded from the ever-changing circumstances outside us. Remember, Paul himself said that his contentment was seen "in any and every circumstance" (Phil. 4:12).
