Discipleship is at the heart of what it means to be a Christian. From the Great Commission found in Matthew 28:18-20 (ESV), we find Jesus telling his disciple, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."
And then again in 2 Timothy, we find Paul telling Timothy in chapter 2 verse 2, "and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also."
This idea of passing on what we have learned is truly at core of who we are as believers. In this sermon by Joey Rodgers titled, The Call to Be a Mentor, Joey walks us through this text in 2 Timothy and helps us to understand what it means to replicate our lives. This is a powerful message that we all need to hear. It may be the perfect direction for you to take in your next sermon. I encourage you to download it to study today.
