Praying For The Unreached
|
|
Each day this week, in preparation for Day of the Unreached, we're investigating different aspects of the challenges of reaching all peoples with the Gospel.
As Christians, we know the power of prayer. As we approach the end of the month and the International Day of the Unreached on May 31, please join us in praying for not only unreached people groups, but for those who are endeavoring to bring them the Gospel despite great personal risk. Pray for God to Be Glorified. Scripture: Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. (John 14:13, ESV) Heavenly Father, We come before you in worship, proclaiming you as our Lord and Savior. Our prayer is that your name be shared, celebrated, and lifted above all others. We know that nothing is impossible for you, and that one day your name will be praised by all people. There is no corner of this earth that you cannot reach. Let our work glorify your name. In Jesus' Name, Amen

Pray for the Unreached.
Scripture: And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. (Matt. 24:14, NIV)
Lord, it's so easy to be overwhelmed by the needs right in front of us, overlooking the fact that there are 3 billion people who have never heard your name. Break us open, God, and pierce our hearts with pain for these lost souls. Let us never forget the enormity of the task that faces us, to preach your Gospel to the entire world. And when the name of Jesus reaches the ears of these people for the first time, let their eyes be opened to your power. Let their hearts be hungry for your love. Draw them to you, Lord, so they can be saved and find refuge in your eternal love. In Jesus' name, Amen

Pray for Believers' Strength and Faith. Scripture: Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. (2 Cor. 4:16) Dear Father God, Our brothers and sisters across the world face persecution and threats we can only imagine. From imprisonment to torture to death, these saints are under attack from their governments, other religious groups, and even their own families. The sacrifices they have made for you are numerous. We ask that you strengthen them physically, and renew their faith. Let their courage to share the Gospel of Christ be a beacon to others. Give them energy, stamina, and determination to run the race you have set for them without flagging, knowing that they are running to you. We ask in Jesus' name, Amen

Pray for Gospel Workers and Missionaries. Scripture: Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. 3 And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. (Col. 4:2-3, NIV) Dear Lord God, Today we lift up our frontline missionaries and gospel workers. We pray for provision. May they be blessed with the resources they need to continue their work in these desperate areas. We pray for their safety. May they be kept unharmed and untouched by the forces of evil that are working against them. We pray for access. May the red tape that threatens to bind them be cut and may their paths be made smooth, allowing them entry to the countries and regions where they are most needed. We pray for boldness. May you equip them with courage and strength to speak your word, even in the darkest places. We know that you are always with them. May they feel your presence and our prayers, knowing we are with them in spirit. We ask in Jesus' name, Amen

Pray for Governments. Scripture: The king's heart is a stream of water in the hand of the Lord; he turns it wherever he will. (Psalm 21:1) Father, We know that you are sovereign over all nations. We have seen you change the hardest of hearts, and that no man is outside your reach. We pray that the authorities and rulers of the world be touched by your hand, and broken open with your truth. Let them turn from darkness, corruption, and cruelty, and instead show mercy on their citizens. Let them end their campaign of discrimination and intimidation against Christians, making room for religious freedom. Let them know you and see you, for you love them as beloved children of the Almighty One. Within your arms, they too can find forgiveness and mercy. We ask in Jesus' name, Amen

Pray for Additional Workers. Scripture: The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest. (Matt. 9:35-38, ESV) Dear Lord God, The unreached people of the world, your children, need to hear your word. Without you, they are desolate and hopeless. More workers are desperately needed to bring the Gospel to them. We pray that people will hear and heed your call to serve in this capacity, sacrificing their comfort in order to bring the Word of God to the farthest corners of the globe. We pray that fruitful partnerships be established with other NGOs and aid organizations. We pray that they, the branches, remain attached to you, the vine, so the fruit they produce is godly. All this is to your glory. We ask in Jesus' name, Amen

Pray for Peace. Scripture: They must turn from evil and do good; they must seek peace and pursue it. (1 Peter 3:11, NIV) Dear Father, So many of the unreached live in areas fraught with internal and external strife. Civil wars, territorial disputes, and terrorism from extremist groups are everyday realities for many of your children. We pray that every person in the world feels your presence. Convict their hearts and lead them from violence and hate to love and peace. Let them set down their arms and instead look to create respect and community, knowing that we are all beloved by you, and created in your image. Let peace reign. We ask in Jesus' name, Amen
