The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. ─ 1 Corinthians 2:9-10 NIV The Deep Things of God Why did it happen that way? Why did it happen at all? From the little things that may seem coincidental, to the deep and heart wrenching hurts in life, we often want to bend God's ear and ask Him to answer the deep mysteries of His heart for us. It's impossible to imagine all God has planned for us, in this life and in the one to come. In our verse today, "the deep things of God" refers to God's unfathomable nature and His wonderful plan of Jesus' death and resurrection and the assurance of salvation for all who believe God's truth. Look at 1 Corinthians 2:9-10 in The Passion Translation: This is why the Scriptures say: Things never discovered or heard of before,     things beyond our ability to imagine—     these are the many things God has in store     for all his lovers. But God now unveils these profound realities to us by the Spirit.[c] Yes, he has revealed to us his inmost heart and deepest mysteries through the Holy Spirit, who constantly explores all things. The Holy Spirit leads and guides us in all wisdom, sharing God's plan with us in His time as this life unfolds before us. The promise of the eternal future with Him brings hope and courage to us to press on in this life, to endure the hard things that come. The answers to your questions will all be answered, perhaps not all of them in this lifetime, but in the time to come. Today's One Thing Think about the questions you've been asking God. Knowing the why is never more important than knowing the who, although sometimes we can let that desire for the answer to overwhelm and overtake us. During your prayer time today: Express your heart to God. Tell Him how much you love and trust Him. Then truly let Him know that you trust Him and are willing to wait for His time in revealing the answers you have asked Him for.
