Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another.” Hebrews 10:24-25 Technology allows us to do a lot of things from the comfort of our homes with little effort. Working, ordering groceries, or renting movies is literally at our fingertips. Technology is also changing how we do church. We can access music and sermons for our Sunday worship without having to interact with people. We start to think, Why not just stay home where I can make my own choices for sermons and music? The problem with this is that we forget about the people who make up a church. When you are regularly in the company of others, you can know others and be known. You can grow in character as you learn to bear with fellow sinners. You can welcome and be welcomed. You can give a hug of support or sympathy to someone else and be hugged when you need the same. The blessings that come from truly being together cannot be obtained all alone. The writer of Hebrews knew the habits his first writers were slipping into even without technology’s influence. Listen to his clear message to us today to be an encouragement to others.
