The Transforming Word “The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The precepts of the LORD are right, giving joy to the heart.” Psalm 19:7-8 Have you ever met someone who radiated Christ in their countenance so much so that you just knew they were a follower of Jesus—even before they opened their mouth to say a word? Psalm 34:5 says that those who look to the Lord are radiant because the shadow of their shame has been removed. They are transformed by the gospel of grace, and their lives produce the blessed fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22). Their lives areconnected to and flourishing in the one True Vine (John 15:5). As Christians, we are called to “put off the old self ” and be renewed in the thoughts and attitudes of our minds. In fact, we are told to let our minds dwell on things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, and praiseworthy (Philippians 4:8). The law of the Lord is the embodiment of all these attributes! It revives us, makes us wise, gladdens our hearts, enlightens our eyes, warns us, and brings great reward. As God’s Word takes root in our hearts, it transforms us from the inside out, until we are radiant for Him!
