Last week, AmeriCorps launched an exciting new initiative: Schools of National Service to improve college access and affordability for AmeriCorps alumni. Through the project, individual Schools of National Service will provide incentives and awards to AmeriCorps alumni in recognition of their service, encouraging them to attend their institution. This included a virtual event: "AmeriCorps and Higher Education: Partnering for the Public Good," which featured prominent higher education leaders. If you missed it, you can now catch the recording online! You'll find it along with other Schools of National Service information here. As AmeriCorps prepared to launch Schools of National Service, nearly two dozen schools pledged their support, officially becoming among the latest schools to be named a School of National Service. They join the more than 200 higher education institutions who were already participating in AmeriCorps' Segal AmeriCorps Education Award Matching Program and will now also officially be listed as Schools of National Service. This includes four-year institutions, community colleges, technical schools, and graduate programs. |
