Thursday, March 4, 2021 Greater Than Our Fears "But Moses said to God, 'Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?'" (Exodus 3:11 NKJV). If you were God, would you have chosen Moses to lead His people out of Egypt? He was a has-been, a failure. But it seems that God always goes out of His way to choose the most unlikely candidates to do the most unlikely things. We find a pattern of this in the Bible. Jonah, for example, was effectively a racist. He hated the Ninevites and wanted nothing to do with them, but God told him to go and preach to the people of Nineveh. Why Jonah? I think it's because God wanted to use a man who didn't think he would ever do such a thing. That way, He would get the glory. How about Gideon? He basically hid from his own shadow. An angel appeared to him and said, "The Lord is with you, you mighty man of valor!" (Judges 6:12 NKJV). Gideon probably thought, "Who are you talking to? Is there another Gideon here? Because I'm not a mighty man of valor." God doesn't see us for what we are; He sees us for what we can become. The Lord chooses unlikely people so that He can get the glory.   CONTINUE READING →
