View this email in your browser Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.  ─ Matthew 6:33 NKJV  1:1 with the Father  If we are honest, we've all had times in our lives when we excuse ourselves from spending time in prayer. It's easy to say a quick prayer before we eat, go to sleep or travel by car. It's much harder to spend time in committed prayer with God.  It goes much farther than just a quick whisper as we move about our day. One to one time with the Father requires quiet time with Him – not just talking to Him, but tuning into His presence, searching His Word and really listening to His heart. You can bring your list of needs to Him, but it takes perseverance to look deeply into your own heart and hear what He has to say to you.  That's what Jesus is talking about in our verse today. When we seek the heart of the Father, truly looking to please Him, then He takes care of everything that concerns us. What you choose to do in those moments of prayer determines how much of His plans for your future you'll experience.   A deep and satisfying prayer life requires at least three things:  The Word of God.  The Spirit of God.  Your commitment to seek Him.  The Word of God and the Spirit of God are gifts from Him. He's given you Scripture, available to you in so many different forms. You can read it, listen to it and even hear it set to music. The Spirit of God is with you always. He's promised to never leave you, so when you talk to Him, He always hears you.  The last one is totally up to you. The first step is to ask God for His help. Ask Him to lead you and then believe that He will.     Today's One Thing  Set aside 15 minutes each morning this week. Put it as an appointment in your calendar. Get up early or stay up late but commit to spending that time with Him.
