God’s Word did this . . .

In every season of life, there is joy and pain . . .

Dear Friend, In every season of life, there is joy and pain . . . We rejoice for communities finally receiving God's Word in their heart language, but we aren't always aware of the struggle and pain they endured to get to this point. Recently, I read this quote from a pastor and national Bible translator. This quote from Pastor Alli in Togo—from an extremely marginalized people group—touched my heart so deeply that I had to share it with you: "This translation has changed the lives of many of us by giving us more knowledge of the Scriptures, and our Christian life is becoming more and more mature. The joy of having the Bible for us has taken away the worries, fear, disappointment, and desolation that we had before. Our lives are now filled with the light of the Scriptures, and we no longer feel left behind! We now know that we are no longer alone, and this makes us want to live . . . and continue and practice life in Jesus." —Pastor Alli This is why! This is the reason we cannot grow weary of keeping translation projects moving and why we must respond when translation projects stall . . . Yet, I have word of dozens of language groups whose Bible translation work has been stalled. Some are Christians who had already begun their Bible translation work, and others were finally about to start—but then, in the devastation of the pandemic economy, they had to put their dream on hold. Again. Right now, I ask for your help to reach three translation groups who have seen their projects halt because of the lost funding from partners who continue to be impacted by the economic effects of COVID-19. These translators were already struggling to survive day-to-day, and they simply cannot bear the additional financial weight of Bible translation projects. The reality is, when faithful friends like you help them . . . they are no longer stuck holding their shattered dreams . . . continuing to wait for God's Word! To launch a single translation project—or help restart an existing project—costs just $19,500, and in order to provide funding for all three projects, we will need $58,500. Because of generous donors like you, Pastor Alli and his congregation would not have found joy in the midst of their pain—through God's Word translated into their heart language. And for the three language groups who are still waiting . . . they, too, want to experience the joy and the hope found in translated Scripture. Knowing their struggle, I feel compelled to ask you: Can you please help? The people in these three language groups need God's Word just as deeply as you and I do.
