AmeriCorps Responds to the Pandemic As COVID-19 vaccine availability increases, AmeriCorps members in the NCCC program continue to respond to calls for support at vaccination centers. Members are aiding initiatives organized by AmeriCorps' Disaster Response Teams, FEMA, and others to provide critical background assistance, helping facilitate over 2.3 million shots across the country. Serving alongside AmeriCorps members from a variety of programs such as SBP and AmeriCorps St. Louis, members in the NCCC program have provided critical background support at small, mass, and mobile vaccination sites. They move, unpack, and inventory personal protective equipment and other supplies; schedule and confirm vaccination appointments; screen people for COVID-19 symptoms upon arrival; direct traffic; provide instructions; and coordinate community volunteers. Check out the snapshot below to learn more about the impact of their service. |
