Imagine your telephone ringing, and the man on the other end is an ISIS leader, and he wants to meet with you ... | | webmaster220, Imagine being a Christian, ministering in a Middle Eastern country, and under constant threat – simply because you are a Christian. Then imagine your telephone ringing, and the man on the other end is an ISIS leader, and he wants to meet with you. This is a real story. This happened to our Help The Persecuted Field Ministry Team member Amin (called Peter in the video below). And it’s true that our team member knew his life was in danger. Yet, he agreed to meet with this ISIS leader called Muhammad. We’ve previously shared parts of this story with you, but recently I had the opportunity to speak with Muhammed and gain more context for his testimony and current status. God gets all the glory for this amazing story! First, a quick look back for context: Prior to our team meeting Muhammed, God was at work. Muhammed had begun to have deep questions about his faith. When an extremist group discovered this, a trained assassin was hired to end his life. Finally, his family gave him an ultimatum: Give your entire life to being an ISIS leader, and we’ll forgive you. He took their offer. After serving ISIS faithfully, Muhammed was arrested and held by Lebanese Intelligence, released, and left alone with nothing. He was recruited once again by an extremist group, but this time he said no. He tried to settle in and sometime later as he was walking home, he approached the local vegetable stand near where he was staying and noticed a Bible on the dash of the vegetable seller’s car. Friendly with the vendor, Muhammad asked about the Bible—the vegetable seller handed him the Bible as a gift. Muhammed had many questions and asked to speak to a church leader, and soon he was given the contact information for our local Field Ministry Team member Amin. Muhammed and Amin’s interactions were filled with threats of death, fear, vivid dreams, and radical salvation. Watch the following video to relive their encounter. | | | | | The story of Muhammad’s salvation and redemption, and the part Amin plays in sharing the love of Jesus continued on through many circumstances and amazing miracles. When we say that our Help The Persecuted Field Ministry Team is strategically positioned, we mean it. We rely on God to prepare places for us in cities throughout the Middle East and North Africa. We believe that God’s divine wisdom leads us and guides us; He puts men and women in our path who need discipleship and support as they navigate extreme, deadly persecution at the hand of family, friends, and community. A short time ago, I sat down with our brother Muhammad over Zoom to learn more about his journey to faith, the miraculous dreams Jesus used to communicate with him, and the joy of the Lord he experiences today. It was an honor to ask him about the support he received through Help The Persecuted, he said that when he was unable to provide basic needs for himself—clothing, shelter, food—our team came alongside and lifted him up, pushed him forward toward a productive, ministerial life. To him, Help The Persecuted is the living image of Jesus on Earth. Had we not intervened, he may have become a victim of a radical’s bullet. “If it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t be able to see my family grow. Your support came at the right time.” he shared. | | | | | Above: Amin and Muhammed together in Lebanon. He and Amin have become very good friends. They attend the same church and lead a Bible study together—they have become real brothers in Christ! This is the kind of friendship that only God can author—the bringing together of a man sworn to kill and a man promised to lead others to Eternal Life. It’s your prayers and financial support that fuel our team to walk alongside sinners who have received God’s mercy and are in need. This includes former extremists and radicals who have come to discover the God of grace and peace. Thank you! It’s a privilege to do this work together. | | | | Joshua Youssef President and CEO | | | | | | | | |
