WASHINGTON – On Friday, September 10, 2021 and Saturday, September 11, 2021, Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro N. Mayorkas will travel to New York, NY. On Friday, Secretary Mayorkas will join Governor Kathy Hochul, Mayor Bill de Blasio, and NYPD leadership for a briefing on 9/11 security matters followed by a press conference. Secretary Mayorkas will also travel to Queens neighborhoods affected by Hurricane Ida, visit a Disaster Recovery Center, and participate in a media availability. On Saturday, Secretary Mayorkas will honor and memorialize the lives lost 20 years ago with travel to sites of the 9/11 attack in New York City. While in New York, Secretary Mayorkas will also review the U.S. Secret Service planning for the United Nations General Assembly.
