Keeping Schools Safe from Bomb Threats In October, 15 years ago, CISA's Office for Bombing Prevention (OBP) started working to enhance and coordinate the national effort to protect communities against attacks. OBP thanks academic institutions and other partners for their collaboration in recognizing and reporting suspicious activity. Please stay involved: visit OBP, find out about its Bomb-Making Materials Awareness Program (BMAP), or take one of its free, online trainings to enhance your security. Bullying and Cyberbullying Resources for K-12 Schools National Bullying Prevention Awareness Month occurs every October to raise awareness about the effects of bullying. Bullying and cyberbullying threaten students' physical and emotional safety and can impact their social and academic success at school. The Federal School Safety Clearinghouse offers resources, tools, and information to educate students and school staff about preventing and responding to bullying and cyberbullying in kindergarten through grade 12 (K-12) communities. Bullying Awareness and Prevention: Creating Safer Schools Webinar – Oct. 26, 2021 Hosted by the Federal School Safety Clearinghouse in coordination with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Division of Violence Prevention, this informational webinar will provide an overview of bullying awareness and prevention resources, tactics, and strategies to create safer school environments. Learn more and register. 2021 National Summit on School Safety – Oct. 26-28, 2021 This virtual summit, organized by Safe and Sound Schools, convenes national experts, leaders, and practitioners from across the school safety community. Summit topics include school threat assessment and management, planning for physical safety and security, fostering a trauma-informed school culture, and supporting social and emotional learning. It will address important topics like current trends and research on identity-based bullying, cyberbullying, youth-related hate crimes, and how hate groups use social media and technology to reach, recruit, and radicalize youth.
