The Beautiful Simplicity of Faith as mentioned in AMG Bible Illustrations
One of the best things about faith is its being so simple. The skeptics who know too much to believe are but wise in their own conceit. It has been well said that the Gospel is a stream in which lambs can wade, but in which elephants must swim. Children can grasp the simple fact that they are lost in sin but saved in Christ, and the wisest of men must marvel at the depth of wisdom revealed in Christ. Here is how one woman found out how simple a thing faith is. This woman told a soul winner that was eager to lead her to Christ that she would like to believe but could not. The minister replied: “Mrs. Franklin, how long have you been Mrs. Franklin?” The answer was “Oh, ever since the minister asked me, ‘Will you have this man to be your lawful wedded husband?” “You said,” the minister interrupted, “ ‘I hope so,’ or, ‘I’ll see.’ “ “Indeed no,” rejoined the woman, “I said, ‘I will.’ “ “Well,” the minister insisted, “why not give God the same answer when he asks you the question: ‘Will you take my Son, Jesus Christ as your Savior?’ “ “Oh, is that all?” the woman asked. Her relief came at once when she understood that Jesus gave salvation and that He would do all else, provided He was received as Savior. Faith is an act of the will to receive Christ as Savior. That, in turn, means two things: the forgiveness of sin and the death of sin.
