Everyone who hears these words of mine and doesn't do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. Matthew 7:26
Jesus forever points us to the kingdom not made with hands. It is where God dwells and reigns supreme. With every action and word, Christ encourages us further towards the Father. Our Savior knows how much importance to place on things in and above this world. He knows the deception we are under when we turn too much attention to our lives. Anything that steals us from this full focus on our God deceives us and leads us away from Him.
When we make more of our lives or the world, we are looking in the wrong direction. We are building on sand. Jesus urges us to choose the Solid Rock instead. As we make the bold statement to follow Christ, our eyes are gazing upward. This is good, and a worthy offering to Him. But often, our gaze soon returns to our lives and surroundings. The more we look at ourselves and compare ourselves with others, the more we remove our gaze from the Lord.
Jesus says the prudent children turn to Him for everything. They see that there is no point in wasting time on ourselves. They recognize our insufficiencies and refuse to make much of our issues. They gain by turning to Someone much bigger. They build lasting faith by rejecting inferior materials. Let´s choose the Eternal One.
Dear Lord, help us build something that will last forever. Let us look beyond what we have here and find all we need in You. Turn our hearts and gaze away from here. Set us like concrete upon You. Let the growing relationship between us be what all else is grounded on. Make that bond so strong that it will weather any storm. We pray. Amen
Isaiah 46:9 ESV / Remember the former things of old; for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me,
1 John 3:1 ESV / See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him.
Matthew 6:31-33 ESV / Therefore do not be anxious, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
Romans 8:28 ESV / And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
