I know I'm not alone in this… I have a love/hate relationship with being public about my life, especially on social media. On one hand, I know social media provides opportunities for sharing the love of Jesus and encouraging others. And I do love catching up with old friends and hearing about their lives!
But there's also a side to the public life on social media that isn't the best for my mental health or walk with the Lord. Sometimes, it's like a never-ending high school reunion where everyone is showing off their latest achievements. It often feels like a competition to see who can have the most perfect family, awesome vacation, or Pinterest-worthy party. That can be a bit of a minefield for my heart, and I must remind myself that my worth comes from Christ, not the things of this world or people's accolades.
I guess I'm learning that the older I get, the more I prefer to live a quiet life for the Lord, not a public one. I'm more about finding His grace and peace in the everyday moments—where there's real life happening that isn't camera perfect—messy, beautiful, God-filled real life.
Do you feel this tension, too? This pull between the things that our world celebrates, and what honors God?
Are you wanting to learn more about living a quiet, hidden life for the Lord and seeking His approval alone?
If so, I want to invite you to our next Online Bible Study - Hidden: Finding Delight in Your Life with Christ by Allison Allen, an incredible Bible teacher who will help us navigate this topic while studying the lives of 6 "concealed characters" in the Bible and the significance of Colossian 3:3, living a life "hidden in Christ." I've already watched the trailer and the first session video and I'm so excited to get started with this one! It's all starting July 22 and will take us through Labor Day – the perfect finale to our summer Bible studies!
Let's walk together in discovering the gift of a life that doesn't seek to be seen by anyone but Jesus. I hope you will join us. You can follow this link to sign up and learn more.
Blessings,
Jaime
P.S. This has been my life verse: "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving." (Colossians 3:23-24). If this is your desire, this study is for you, too!
