Waiting in Confidence We've all had to wait at one time or another. Whether it be at the doctor's office or the salon or another type of appointment, at some point we've all had the "waiting room experience." How do you feel when the wait is longer than you expected? Do you march up to the receptionist and demand an update? Do you leave? Or are you the type of person who shrugs and grabs a magazine to pass the time? Real life waiting rooms can be tough. Your current season of waiting might be more serious than waiting your turn in the dentist's chair or waiting in line to fill up your gas tank. Maybe you've been praying consistently—for that financial situation to turn around, for that wayward child, or a sick family member. You may not feel as if your name is getting called. Nothing has changed, or very little has turned around, and unlike a physical place, you can't walk up to the receptionist's desk and ask someone how long the wait will be. Have you been frustrated in the waiting? Waiting is tough—especially when you're waiting on God. What if I told you that there could be purpose in your waiting? Believe it or not, in the wait, you can be transformed. You can go from walking in fear and anxiety to learning to walk in deep peace during the most difficult of times as you receive the love and joy He offers—no matter the situation. If God is God and you are His child, you can choose to believe that He has the answer to your desires, requests, and needs. If you can trust Him, you can learn to sit in those spiritual "waiting rooms" with full confidence. While you wait, you can rest, learn and sit at His feet. God is the same person who loved you long before you graced the face of the earth, and I assure you He hasn't lost track of you or your prayers. Keep waiting on God, but wait in confidence, believing that He is listening to your prayers. Keep casting all of your cares upon Him because He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7).
