A Lesson From My Granddaughter Dear Friends,   I have a humorous story to share with you this morning. I will also share with you the incredible lesson I learned from it!   This past week, our granddaughter Tally (6) stayed with Debra and me. When I got home from work, I sat in the kitchen with her as Debra was preparing dinner. Tally loves to pretend that she is other people. She creates conversations surrounding characters she has chosen to portray. She may be a schoolteacher, store manager, or even a hotel concierge!   That day, however, she was a manager of an eyeglass company, and she was interviewing me for a job. Debra was laughing in the background as Tally went through my job interview. Her creativity and imagination knows no bounds!   As we continued playing, I asked her if she was married and had children. "Why yes," she replied, and went on to give me all of the names and ages of her "children." I asked her what her husband "Michael" did for a living. Without hesitation, she said he was a doctor—a "pedia-Christian." I started laughing, and she quickly corrected herself and said he was a "pediatrician."   That phrase from sweet Tally stuck with me long after she had gone home. The word she used, "pedia-Christian," really made me think. The word "pediatrician" comes from a combination of two Greek words: pais meaning "child," and iatros meaning "doctor or healer." This is an appropriate way to describe a pediatrician, a children's doctor. While obviously "pedia-Christian" is not a word, I began to think what it would mean if it were. It could be defined as a "spiritual healer of children." Then I thought of our vision for iBIBLE: to present the Word of God in a narrative (story) format so that the next generation can understand. Our goal is to bring spiritual life and healing to children!   At 6 years of age, Tally doesn't speak in theological terms. She speaks in story. Give her a story with lots of details, and she will grasp its meaning and be able to restate its lessons as well as anyone her age. Our goal is to bring spiritual life and healing to children!  This week in our iBIBLE "Behind the Scenes," we spoke about how through iBIBLE, we are presenting the Bible in chronological order with all its details. When we read a passage or a chapter (or even multiple chapters) of Scripture, we can miss all the details of the story. The details are often spread throughout the chapters of each book of the Bible. When we reassemble all of those details in a chronological manner, a beautiful story emerges. It is easier to understand and remember—especially for youth, or those who struggle with literacy.   We have previously stated that a comprehensive and visual narrative of the entire Bible does not exist. This is a massive project that God has called us to undertake. But the time has come. It's time to present the Gospel in the language of our children, grandchildren, and the global missions community!   Before there were printing presses and Bibles on every bookshelf, parents taught their children the Word of God through repeating the stories and events. The Word of God was learned in the church or synagogues and passed down through the generations. Parents sat with their children and spoke in a language their children wanted to engage with: the language of story. While the technology of iBIBLE is new, the presentation is not. iBIBLE will simply be a tool that parents (and grandparents!), teachers, and mission workers can use to help their audiences engage with the Bible. It will be free, and it will be available to be translated into any of the world's 7,000 languages!   If there were such a thing as a "pedia-Christian," it is exactly what I would want to be! Thank you Tally for reminding Grandpa—even if by accident—of what really matters.
