Update on Dobbs Supreme Court Case  This week, the Mississippi Attorney General delivered remarks on the upcoming Dobbs case centering upon the newly-released brief by the office. In her remarks, AG Lynn Fitch stated: "There are those who would like everyone to believe that Roe v. Wade settled this once and for all. That it recognized a right to terminate pregnancy in 1973 and that states like Mississippi just need to learn to 'live with that' and give up on these vital interests of the State. But, the Supreme Court has been clear that the right it recognized in Roe is not absolute. And, the Supreme Court has been clear that the people may act to protect legitimate interests."  To see the full brief from the Mississippi state AG's office, as well as the accompanying remarks and press releases pertaining to the case, please see the link here.  The Future of the Hyde Amendment: What is Happening and How to Get Involved The legislative protections against taxpayer funding of elective abortions, known as the Hyde Amendment, has become a hot topic of debate in Congress over the past weeks and months. The recent Democratic budget proposal includes a measure that would eliminate the Hyde Amendment, which has been in effect since 1980. President Biden was a supporter of the Hyde Amendment until his most recent presidential campaign, when he came out in support of repealing it. The spending bill that repeals the Hyde Amendment has been approved all the way through the House Appropriations Committee, and will soon come up for a full vote on the House floor.  This key protection in ensuring that taxpayer dollars are not spend on funding elective abortion procedures is under threat.
