Prophecy Thread of Week 10 Noah Webster's 1828 Dictionary Definition of Truth: Conformity to fact or reality; exact accordance with that which is, or has been, or shall be. The truth of history constitutes its whole value. We rely on the truth of the scriptural prophecies. ABRAM TO BECOME A GREAT NATION The promise to Abram is one of the key prophecies in the entire Bible. First because it establishes an eternal covenant with God's chosen people Israel. Second because believers in Jesus Christ have been given the same promise (Gal 3:14). The initial fulfillment was Israel's great population growth while in Egypt. However, there is a literal fulfillment still yet to come when Jesus Christ returns to earth and Israel is freed from all her enemies. PROMISED THE PROMISE TO ABRAM 1957 BC, 1922 BC (U) Gen 12:2a "I will make you into a great nation, THE PROMISE REMEMBERED, ABRAM WALKS THE WHOLE PROMISE LAND 1935 BC Gen 13:16 I will make your offspring like the dust of the earth, so that if anyone could count the dust, then your offspring could be counted. ISAAC AND REBEKAH 1875 BC Gen 24:60 And they blessed Rebekah and said to her, "Our sister, may you increase to thousands upon thousands; may your offspring possess the cities of their enemies." JACOB PREPARES TO MEET ESAU Gen 32:12 But you have said, 'I will surely make you prosper and will make your descendants like the sand of the sea, which cannot be counted.' " JACOB GOES TO EGYPT 1722 BC Gen 46:3 "I am God, the God of your father," he said. "Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for I will make you into a great nation there. FULFILLED HEBREW PEOPLE GREATLY MULTIPLY 1620 BC Exo 1:7 but the Israelites were exceedingly fruitful; they multiplied greatly, increased in numbers and became so numerous that the land was filled with them. DAVID REIGNS 1023 BC (U) 2Sa 17:11 "So I advise you: Let all Israel, from Dan to Beersheba—as numerous as the sand on the seashore—be gathered to you, with you yourself leading them into battle. WILL BE FULFILLED NATURAL ISRAEL IN THE KINGDOM (TRIBULATION SURVIVORS) ONE THOUSAND YEAR REIGN Gen 28:14a Your descendants will be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west and to the east, to the north and to the south.
