God made an everlasting covenant with Abraham and his descendents the Israelites. God cannot lie or break His word. Today, this covenant continues to believers in Christ (
Gal 3:14). Paul states that in this current age there are blinders preventing the understanding of the Messiah (
Rom 11). However, in the ages to come there will be no blinders and all will recognize that through Jesus Christ the covenant will go on forever.
Gen 17:7 I will establish my covenant as an everlasting covenant between me and you and your descendants after you for the generations to come, to be your God and the God of your descendants after you.
Jdg 2:1 The angel of the LORD went up from Gilgal to Bokim and said, "I brought you up out of Egypt and led you into the land I swore to give to your ancestors. I said, 'I will never break my covenant with you,
1Sa 12:22 For the sake of his great name the LORD will not reject his people, because the LORD was pleased to make you his own.
Mic 7:20 You will be faithful to Jacob, and show love to Abraham, as you pledged on oath to our ancestors in days long ago.
Isa 59:21 "As for me, this is my covenant with them," says the LORD. "My Spirit, who is on you, will not depart from you, and my words that I have put in your mouth will always be on your lips, on the lips of your children and on the lips of their descendants—from this time on and forever," says the LORD.
