You can follow us on Instagram by searching for our username @aaplog_ or click here.  Danger of the Push For Removal of REMS It is obvious that the abortion industry and its allies among the media, billionaire philanthropic circles and special interest groups, have pushed for unregulated and de-medicalized abortion pill distribution since the FDA first approved it back in 2000. Recently, lawyers for the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists urged the Supreme Court to leave in place a lower-court order that allows patients during the coronavirus pandemic to avoid a requirement that they visit a medical office in order to obtain a pill used to induce abortion in the early stages of pregnancy. Mumsnet, a British website for parents, recently hosted an alarming post about a woman seeking help after her husband began pressuring her to have an abortion. The site further revealed a high incidence of women seeking help after feeling forced by their male partners to undergo abortions.  Research by polling company D-Cyfor recently stated that one in seven U.K. women has been forced to undergo an abortion. Experts have called for U.K. healthcare professionals to be vigilant in screening for coercion after a study suggested that a quarter of U.S. women were subjected to coercion surrounding an abortion decision, with the study branding coercion as "common." In addition, a new study co-authored by AAPLOG Executive Director Donna Harrison finds that aborting the first child makes a woman more likely to abort future pregnancies. This study is a first-of-its-kind, population-based analysis. The study also suggests that women experiencing repeated pregnancies and subsequent abortions following an index abortion are subjected to an increased exposure to hemorrhage and infection, the major causes of maternal mortality, and other adverse consequences resulting from multiple separation events. They wrote in support of the FDA's continued fight to defend the REMS, monitor dangerous clinical studies, and shut down illegal websites. However, the senators explained that these measures alone fail to protect the thousands of women harmed even by compliant usage of this drug, as well as the millions of children killed by it. An excerpt from the letter reads:   "To protect vulnerable women and children, we strongly urge the FDA to remove this deadly drug from the U.S. market and exercise its authority under 21 CFR § 2.5, declaring it an 'imminent hazard to public health.' "We are especially proud of the FDA's defense of the safety of women and children as the abortion industry executes a multifront campaign to circumvent the FDA's statutory authority to regulate the highly dangerous abortion pill.1 However, given the devastating impact this drug has had on American women and children, we must now urge the FDA to exercise its authority under 21 CFR § 2.5 and classify the abortion pill as an 'imminent hazard to the public health' that poses a 'significant threat of danger' and remove this pill from the U.S. market." Apply For SRAE Grants  The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)/Administration for Children & Families has announced new opportunities to apply for federal grants! Sexual Risk Avoidance Education (SRAE) funds programs for youth that exclusively implement education in sexual risk avoidance (defined as voluntarily refraining from non-marital sexual activity), and by teaching youth personal responsibility, self-regulation, goal setting, healthy decision-making, a focus on the future, and the prevention of youth risk behaviors such as drug and alcohol use without normalizing teen sexual activity. General SRAE  Competitive SRAE  Personal Responsibility Education Program (PREP) funds education to youth that must teach both abstinence and contraception for the prevention of pregnancy.  Competitive PREP Tribal PREP Grant  Pro-Life Billboards Black Preborn Lives Matter partners, Students for Life of America and Students for Life Action, along with the Frederick Douglass Foundation and Human Coalition Action, announced the launch of a series of billboards across the country during a virtual news conference.
