Next week, Acting Secretary of Homeland Security Chad F. Wolf will travel to Nicosia, Cyprus; Manama, Bahrain; and Doha, Qatar to meet with regional counterparts and discuss bolstering security cooperation and information sharing partnerships across the region. In Nicosia, Cyprus; Acting Secretary Wolf will participate in a groundbreaking ceremony for a State Department-funded training facility, through which DHS will provide training to regional partners including to secure borders and combat cybercrime. The Acting Secretary will also meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikos Christodoulides and will sign a Joint Declaration on Security Cooperation. In Manama, Bahrain; Acting Secretary Wolf will meet with Minister of Interior, General Shaikh Rashid Bin Abdulla Al Khalifa to discuss priorities regarding the DHS-Bahrain Memorandum of Understanding. The Acting Secretary will also meet with U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) assets supporting USNAVCENT in the region and participate in a town hall with USCG forces. In Doha, Qatar; Acting Secretary Wolf will meet with Minister of Interior, Major General Abdul Aziz Abdullah Al Ansari to discuss counter terrorism efforts and security matters surrounding the 2022 FIFA World Cup. On January 8, Acting Secretary Wolf will return to Washington, D.C. |
