The national media can be just as misinformed as social media or the neighborhood gossip lines. We are created to be discerners of the truth. We have been given spiritual eyes to recognize the truth in what's going on around us. Those of this world who are highly favored usually tell people what they want to hear. John remarked that those who faithfully speak God's truth won't be popular with the people. Most people don't want their sins pointed out. They don't want to be told they need to change their behavior (1 John 4:6). Ways you can discern the truth: Does the message align with the Bible? Do their actions confirm a commitment to God and other believers? Can you see fruit at work in their lives? Today's One Thing Ask your Heavenly Father to give you eyes to see. Slow down a bit this week and take time to look around. Ask Him to show you things that you haven't noticed before as you go about our day.
